Unexcused Absence Policy

Students must bring a note to the Attendance Office in order to clear an absence.

Third Unexcused Absence

The teacher will fill out a referral form and forward it to the appropriate counselor.
The counselor will contact the student´s parent/s.
Parents, the student, and the counselor will meet and sign an attendance contract.

Fourth Unexcused Absence

Per Education Code 48260, the student is now truant.
The teacher will complete the referral and forward it to the appropriate counselor.
The counselor will notify the PSA Counselor that the student is now truant.
The student will be suspended for the remainder of the day and the parents will be contacted.
The PSA counselor will make an appointment for a School Attendance Review Team (SART) meeting with the parent/s and the student.

Students with more than four unexcused absences will attend Saturday School from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
